On behalf of Lila who sent in an email:-
I live in central Michigan. I have a bird that I am trying to identify.
It's beak is long and narrow like a woodpeckers. The head, top of wings, back and tail are a reddish brown. The upper chest is tan with black spots. The lower chest is light tan to white. It is about the size of a morning dove. It looks like it is using its beak like a jackhammer. It also uses its beak to sweep the dirt back and forth. It has a long tail.
It has been eating a mixed bird seed. It has been here for about 1-2 months. I hope you can help me identify this bird.
