On behalf of Phil who sent in an email:-

Pair of birds (m and f?) seen in garden tree. One bird very interested in low holly bush and seemed to be finding berries in bush. Bird was about same size as Blackbird, had all white underside, chest very similar to a Thrush. Head and Tail appeared dark grey and shoulder/back very like house sparrow brown. Never seen bird before.

Winter visitor?

These may have been Fieldfare, Phil. They are the same size as Blackbirds, have a speckled chest, similar to a Thrush (they are the same family).  They arrive in the UK for the winter to feed on berries and are often in flocks with some Redwings thrown in.  They have a blue/grey head and whiter flanks in winter.  Their backs are brown and they have a grey rump.
