On behalf of  Phyllis (who sent in an email) can anyone help to identify this bird?

Cannot identify a bird that was seen at a backyard window feeder in Mt Orab, Ohio on Sunday 8-3-2014. Could not get adequate picture because of the blue film on the inside to prevent startling the birds.

At first glance it was assumed to be a cardinal. But... it had a black sleek head with one skinny red  feather plume. Markings on head also appeared  like black aviator goggles.  The beak was orange like a cardinal.  The back was red / brown / black and the chest was red. Could not find in the A-Z pics or the 4 step identifier.

Thank you.
