Hi all, the other evening my cat was outside (not stalking or anything) just laying there...this bird came out of nowhere and went for my cat, circled the roof and came back again!
Now I know its not 'this bird' as I couldn't get a pic of it but it looks exactly the same other than the black wingtips! The bird in the pic is a Bonaparte's gull which is native to north America, but I live in Essex lol...

Any ideas what bird it could be? And if attacking/preying on large animals is normal...(my cat is bigger than the bird lol)

Thank you in advance

Hi,

You might look at the Terns to see if they match, and some will "dive bomb" humans if they get too close to their nests - so have attitude.

Though no idea on how likely you are to have one of the various Terns close enough to your house to cause a reaction.

Terns tend to have the top of the head black rather than the head and face in your picture.

Mike
