On behalf of Jak who sent in an email:-

A pair of birds nipping mite from roof top, bobbed and wagged tail a bit, dark head, white blobs / flashes on wings, otherwise brownish grey.

Can anyone identify please?

What comes to mind from the description, Jak are Pied Wagtails but it would depend on the size of the birds you saw. They are a little larger than a Robin or Great Tit. They have a black head & back with a white face and belly with white flashes on the wings and tail. They give an appearance of grey general colouring and, as their name implies, continually wag their tails.  Often seen on a path or roof pecking for grubs. An underrated bird.
